Description
Gabtab is a combination of two medicines: Gabapentin and Nortriptyline which is used in the treatment of neuropathic pain. The pain caused by any damage or disease which are affecting the sensory nerves of a person is called Neuropathic pain. The damaged nerves can create allodynia it’s a pain that normally doesn’t appear or dysesthesia which is an altered or abnormal sensation in the pain.
Gabapentin comes in a drug class called alpha 2 delta ligand which reduces pain by modulating the calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Normally, Gabapentin tablets are used to treat epilepsy and nerve pain. These tablets are also used to treat migraine headaches.
Nortriptyline is known as a tricyclic antidepressant that raises the levels of chemical messengers (serotonin and noradrenaline) that prevent the movement of pain signals in the brain. These tablets are an excellent treatment for depression.
